  19. I've been using the latest version of ms-kermit on my PC to connect
  20. to a remote (unix) system. I run Kermit via a .pif file from
  21. Windows 3.1 (on a 486 PC). I have an USR Sportster 14400 int. modem.

  23. In general I have no trouble connecting and once the
  24. connection is running it is extremely reliable, however about
  25. one time out of ten I run kermit, dial up the remote system, a
  26. connection is established but the welcome message from the
  27. remote system just _stops_ part way through.

  29. When this happens I can't type anything in the terminal window
  30. and I can still hear modem data if I pick the phone up. I can
  31. give the hangup command from the kermit prompt and that works
  32. ok, but I still cant get the modem to respond if I go back to
  33. the terminal screen. If I quit kermit and start it again the
  34. problem usually remains (and kermit often tells me it can't
  35. verify the port). The only solution seems to be to quit and
  36. restart Windows.

  38. Since the problem is a bit sporadic I haven't been able to work
  39. out whats going on but its really starting to annoy me! 
  40. I'd be very grateful if anyone can offer any opinions/advice
  41. on what the problem might be!
